Her work sits at the intersection of climate action\, disability inclusion\, gender equality\, and community-led development\, with a strong focus on translating global priorities into practical local action. \n\n\n\nSharon has contributed to climate initiatives supported by international partners\, including the Embassies of Sweden\, the United States\, Brazil\, and France\, and has mentored and supported over 600 young climate leaders from Indonesia\, USA\, UAE\, New Zealand\, Australia & 30 African countries\, through regional and global fellowship programmes like the Young EcoStars program (YES-P)\, the Climate Education Leaders Fellowship (CELF)\, The Climate Catalysts Rewilding Minds Fellowship. \n\n\n\nOver the past three years\, she has served as a resource person and ambassador with the Women Environmental Programme (WEP)\, facilitating trainings\, supporting climate and inclusion programmes\, and representing the organisation at national and international engagements. \n\n\n\nThrough her work\, Sharon champions meaningful youth participation and inclusive approaches that strengthen community resilience and accelerate locally led climate solutions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVictoria DuncanHead of ResearchHarambee Youth Employment Accelerator \n\n\n\nVictoria Duncan is Head of Research at Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator\, where she leads research\, evidence generation and impact measurement to support inclusive labour market solutions for young people. Her work focuses on labour market dynamics\, socio-economic inclusion\, gender\, income generation\, and pathways into employment and self-employment. She has led numerous labour market studies and supported systems change initiatives\, specifically within South Africa’s early childhood development sector under the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative. In 2025\, Victoria served as Co-Chair of the Care Economy Task Team within South Africa’s Women20 (W20) delegation during the country’s G20 Presidency. She holds a master’s degree in economics from Stellenbosch University. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGeorge WamukoyaTeam LeaderAfrican Group of Negotiators Experts Support (AGNES) \n\n\n\nDr. George Wamukoya\, OGW\, is a distinguished policy expert with over 30 years of experience in environment and natural resources\, climate change policies\, and international climate change diplomacy. One of his notable achievements was his involvement as one of the 11 experts who facilitated negotiations and final adoption of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change at the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP21) in Paris in 2015. \n\n\n\nHe has been actively involved in capacity building programs\, including the training of judges and magistrates on the implementation of environmental law. \n\n\n\nDr. Wamukoya currently serves as the Team Leader of the African Group of Negotiators Experts Support (AGNES)\, a think tank providing technical support to African governments and the African Group of Negotiators (AGN) in climate change policy formulation and decision-making. He is also the Program Director of the Climate Governance\, Diplomacy\, and Negotiations Leadership Program\, which trains Africa’s future climate leaders. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAliyu Buhari AliCEOQuantum Microfinance Bank \n\n\n\nAliyu Buhari Ali is a distinguished Islamic finance and development finance professional with over two decades of experience spanning non-interest banking\, takaful\, microfinance\, and financial inclusion. As the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Quantum Microfinance Bank Ltd\, he leads one of Nigeria’s pioneering digital-first non-interest microfinance institutions\, championing innovative\, technology-driven and Shari’ah-compliant financial solutions that broaden access to ethical finance for underserved individuals\, entrepreneurs\, and micro\, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). \n\n\n\nHe holds a Master’s degree in Islamic Banking and Finance from Bayero University\, Kano\, and is a Certified Islamic Specialist in Takaful (CIST). DESCRIPTION:Grassroots women entrepreneurs across green sectors such as climate-smart agriculture\, clean energy\, and the circular economy contribute significantly to climate mitigation and adaptation. At the same time\, they are compounded by their vulnerability to climate change\, which amplifies their caregiving and resource management roles\, resulting in limited time\, mobility\, and financial readiness. The burden of unpaid care work like water and fuel collection\, childcare\, food preparation and care for sick family members falls disproportionately on women. This burden is not shared equally across households\, communities\, or institutions\, and it intensifies with every climate shock. Who else is supposed to carry it? She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of South Africa (UNISA) and is a former Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Johannesburg. \n\n\n\nHer work covers population dynamics\, gender equality\, families\, the care economy\, social policy\, adolescent and youth development\, sexual and reproductive health and rights\, gender-based violence\, women’s economic participation and sustainable development. At UN Women in Argentina\, she works with the private sector to advance gender equality as a driver of business success. She has extensive experience planning\, implementing\, and managing programs and projects\, and building partnerships among international organizations\, NGOs\, governments\, and companies. Her work focuses on strengthening business capabilities\, expanding access to finance and markets\, and creating pathways for enterprise growth and job creation. \n\n\n\nThrough the Women Creating Wealth programme\, Caroline has contributed to supporting more than 6\,400 women entrepreneurs across seven African countries. The programme aims to reach 10\,000 women entrepreneurs\, enabling them to collectively generate US$1 billion in revenue and create 200\,000 jobs. \n\n\n\nHer experience includes designing grant and investment-readiness initiatives\, developing market access strategies\, building regional partnerships and working with public\, private and development-sector partners. She is particularly interested in how capital\, technical support and market linkages can expand economic opportunities for women\, young people and underserved communities. \n\n\n\nCaroline combines strategic programme leadership\, financial-sector experience and a strong understanding of the challenges facing African entrepreneurs.
