Women green entrepreneurs are driving climate solutions—but unpaid care work and limited access to finance continue to hold many back. Through the Greenovations Africa 2 webinar series, women entrepreneurs, funders, policymakers, Enterprise Support Organizations (ESOs), and researchers from Africa and Latin America will come together to explore practical solutions for building a more inclusive green economy. The series will spotlight ways to recognize, reduce, redistribute, and reward unpaid care work while improving access to climate finance for grassroots women-led green enterprises. By fostering cross-regional dialogue and collaboration, the series aims to the series aims to identify practical pathways for recognizing, reducing the burden of unpaid care work and promoting inclusive, accessible climate finance responsive to the realities of women green entrepreneurs for a gender-transformative green entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Objectives:
- Present key insights and outputs of the Greenovations Africa 2 project
- Stimulate discussion on challenges, mechanisms and opportunities in the climate finance sector for woman green entrepreneurs
- Foster synergies and knowledge sharing exchanges between actors supporting female green entrepreneurship in Africa and Latin America
- Create awareness on the pathways for recognizing and reducing unpaid care work, and integration into the broader care systems and policy in Africa and Latin America
- Promote best practices and innovative approaches addressing the care-climate nexus to strengthen grassroot women entrepreneurship and advance climate action
The series consists of Five events featuring panels and presentations around three thematic clusters: (i) Gender-Just Solutions; (ii) Inclusive Climate Finance; and (iii) Enabling Environment
Each session consists of a 45-minute presentation and a 15-minute Q&A between the speaker and the (online) audience.
